2020 Free Christmas Day Dinner (Drive-Thru / Walk-Thru)

While Going without necessities like food is a serious issue throughout the year, Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for low-income families, single parents, the homeless and all that are in need. SJMBC invites you to our FREE Christmas Day Dinner. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s dinner will be a drive-thru event.

The FREE Christmas Day Dinner, which is spearheaded by the St, John Missionary Baptist Church, will be conducted along 5th Street and Market Street in Alton, Illinois on Christmas Day starting at 11:00 a.m.

SJMBC decided to serve the dinner because it is needed. SJMBC has been hosting the free Christmas Day dinner since 2013 and want to continue the tradition in a safe and respectful manner by doing a drive-thru.

Several safety measures will be taken. Food preparation will be completed offsite before Christmas day, and all volunteers will be physically distant and wearing masks and gloves. Volunteers handing over the to-go meals will also be masked and gloved and follow distancing rules.

Due to the pandemic, we are doing a scaled back menu which will include turkey, ham, dressing, macaroni and cheese, green beans, dinner rolls, and dessert.

SJMBC plans to serve between 150-200 meals this year.  Anyone interested in obtaining a Free Christmas Day Dinner, can visit the following link to register to receive a dinner: https://www.ticketsource.us/sjmbc

SJMBC is located 427 Market Street, Alton, Illinois 62002.
