2014 Free Christmas Day Dinner

While going without basic necessities like food is a serious issue throughout the year,sjmbcpanel6Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for low-income families, single parents, the homeless and all that are in need. SJMBC invites you to a FREE Christmas celebration dinner.

 

 

Who can attend this Free Christmas Dinner?

  • If you are going to be alone at Christmas, you are welcome to come.
  • If spending Christmas at home may be difficult for some, following a bereavement for example, you are welcome to come.
  • If you want to do something different, you are welcome to come.
  • If you want the share the true meaning of Christmas with other, you welcome to come.
  • If you are homeless or between homes, you are welcome to come.
  • If you are having financial difficulties and can’t afford to prepare a Christmas Dinner, you are welcome to come.
  • If none of the above reasons apply to you and your situation, you are welcome to come.

There are no requirements limiting who can eat. The feast includes turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing (stuffing), green beans, dinner rolls, and a variety of desserts.

The Free Dinner will be served Thursday, December 25, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at St. John Missionary Baptist Church located 427 Market Street, Alton, Illinois 62002 for more information, SJMBC phone number is (618) 465-5954.

We Need Volunteers

We Need Donations

Food Donations – We anticipate 200 -300 people:

  • Turkey
  • Ham
  • Large Cans of Green Beans

If you living the Alton – River Bend Area (Alton, Bethalto, Cottage Hills, East Alton, Godfrey, Hartford, Roxana and Wood River) please contact us at (618) 465-5954 or by email at info@sjmbc.net and we will make arrangements for pick up or delivery of donated food. If you are outside of the Alton – River Area listed above and want to donate, you can make monetary donations, see below.

Personal Hygiene Kits:

We are planning to provide personal hygiene kits for our guest (Men, Women and Children) that are homeless or in need. We are placing the following items in the personal hygiene kits: Bar Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Hair Comb and Deodorant. We are seeking personal hygiene kit sponsors. If you would like to sponsor personal hygiene kits at $2 per kit, please complete the
